According to Mr. Sundaye, the marketers had lifted 180,000 litres of petrol from NNPC depot in Calabar and disappeared without trace and when the department went to their various filling stations on inspection, the products were not found in their tanks. The names of the marketers and their stations were not given.

“We have sent letters to the PPMC depot Managers in Calabar and Port Harcourt to ensure that those stations were suspended until DPR gives clearance to them to operate again.
“It is disheartening that the same marketers that are complaining that private depots are not given them product at ex-depot price are now diverting products,’’ he said.
He warned other marketers to desist from sharp practices or face the wrath of the law.

The operation controller has vow to withdraw operating licence of any petroleum marketer caught diverting products.
Mr.Sundaye has advised the public not panic in the buying of petrol, as there sufficient product to serve the yuletide season and beyond,
