REGIONAL WAR: QATAR BUYS 24 COMBAT JETS FROM UK




In preparation of self defence against any breakout of regional war or attack on its soil by any of the regional kingdoms, the government of BAE Qatar have entered into a contract valued at around GBP5bn ($6.7bn) for the country to buy 24 Typhoon combat aircraft, the British defence group said on Sunday.

At a cereony in Doha British Defence Minister Gavin Williamson and Qatari Minister of State for Defence Affairs Khalid bin Mohammed al Attiyah, oversaw the signing of the deal which the British minister said is a “massive vote of confidence, supporting thousands of British jobs and injecting billions into our economy”.
In a statement signed by Charles Woodburn, BAE’s chief executive, he said “We are delighted to begin a new chapter in the development of a long-term relationship with the State of Qatar and the Qatar Armed Forces, and we look forward to working alongside our customer as they continue to develop their military capability.”
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have cut off diplomatic ties – as well as air and sea links – with Qatar, accusing the emirate of supporting Islamist extremists.
This is coming a month later after Saudi Arabia, UAE placed order for some combatjets from the US
